Delay in displaying list of vacancies during teachers’ counselling decried - Staff Reporter
TIRUPUR: Delay in displaying the list of vacancies during the counselling held here on Wednesday to appoint teachers in middle, higher secondary and high schools, created dissatisfaction among a section of candidates.
Transparency
The holdup also gave room for acussations questioning the transparency in the procedure, Though the counselling for candidates who passed the requisite written test was scheduled to start at 9 am. At Jaiva Bhai Corporation Gilrs Higher Secondary School, the same began hours later.
When contacted, Chief Educational Officer R.Murugan told The Hindu that the vacancies list came very late from Chennai.
‘This is a ridiculous justification. Why the list of vacancies for an important district like Tirupur came late while in many other nearby districts, the counselling started as pe rscheduled. Besides, the counselling programme was scheduled well in advance and hence.no excuse on delay can be accepted” said C.Natesan, former state general secretary of Tamilnadu Primary/Middle School Teachers’ association.
Lacks clarity
Mr.Natesan also alleged that the entire appointment process lacked clarity across the state as in many districts the exat number of vacancies was not published.
In one district, the number of vacancy posts for English teacher has been shown as one, whereas the actual vacancy was higher,” he said.
